President’s Message
Hafa Adai,
Congratulations to our new officers. I want to welcome our new President, Ms. Rodalyn Marquez for program year July 2008 – June 2009. She will be joined by our President-Elect, Mr. Jojo Guevara, Secretary, Mr. Mark Alviz and our Treasurer, Mr. Thomas Paulino.
It was a pleasure serving as your President for this last program year. We had a very busy year with many accomplishments and again all this could not be done without you - the Guam AGA Chapter members for your time and service to the chapter and to our community. Exciting news. The Guam Chapter submitted several applications for awards with AGA National. Our chapter won several awards. Congratulations to the following committees and chairpersons: Education Award: Zeny Nace and John Phillips; Community Service Award: Jojo Guevara and Llewelyn Restovog; Newsletter: Honorable Mention: Lou Perez, Vince Duenas and Gener Deliquina; Chapter Service Award: Taling Taitano. |

The PDC raffle was held at our May General Membership meeting and I would like to congratulate Bobbie Howard, Doreen Crisostomo and Maripaz Perez who will be joining Rodalyn Marquez to the PDC in Atlanta, Georgia. They will also be joined by Taling Taitano, our Chapter Service Award recipient.
We also raffled seats to attend the PEIC in July at the Guam Marriot Hotel. Our winners are: Yuka Cabrera, Jojo Guevara, Melba Cantoria, and Cora Montellano. If any of the four winners are unable to attend we have raffled alternates who can take their place. The alternates are Zeny Nace and Egbert Mabel.
Please direct anyone interested in attending the PEIC to any of the officers so we can assist in getting them registered to attend. Information is provided here in our website or email Rodalyn Marquez at rmarquez@guamopa.org for more information.
Congratulations to everyone for another successful AGA 5K Run. The Community Service Committee and the 5K Committee did an excellent job in organizing the event. The weather was great, the crowd was huge and we all had lots of fun. Thank you also to all the great sponsors that helped to make the event successful. We will be presenting our cash donation to our two beneficiaries – Foster Families Association and the Autism Community Together during our July General Membership meeting. Please join us and hear them speak on the goals of their organization.
Thanks again to all for a great program year. I am proud to announce that your Guam Chapter has been awarded the Platinum Chapter Designation this year. AGA National established a Chapter Recognition Program, a noncompetitive program recognizing a chapter’s performance. The objective is to support, encourage and promote the accomplishments of AGA’s mission, and to provide flexible noncompetitive guidelines for a well-rounded chapter. The Platinum Chapter Designation is the highest designation a chapter can receive. Congratulations to us all for a achieving this award again this year.
Have a great summer and let’s get excited for next year’s events.
Sincerely, Matthew Quinata Chapter President |
